Our Wedding

It was always going to be music that brought us together. It was Sarah's first time at the Pete's Candy Store open mic and Dalton's return after nearly a decade-long absence. In a sea of boring, bitter breakup songs, we found each other. Sarah played a song about a demon from one of her musicals. Dalton played a song about circus freaks falling in love. We knew we had to get to know each other. Sarah went home to gush to her grandmother about her first open mic and her first new friend in the city. Dalton messaged his best friend, Calvin: "This girl is gonna be a problem." For our first date, we attended a Little Simz concert at Brooklyn Steel. Sarah arrived for the date without her wallet or keys and a dead phone. From day one, Sarah decided that she could really trust Dalton. Without her ID, the only way for her to get into the concert was for Dalton to sign a form saying that he was her legal guardian for the evening. Later that same night, after that crisis was averted, we had our first conversation about marriage and how important it was to both of us. Many dates later (but not that many), Dalton popped the question at the TWA Hotel. It was meant to be a surprise, but Sarah hates those, so she approved both the venue and the ring Dalton picked out with his mother. Two months later, we moved into our apartment in Bushwick, and Sarah joyfully added Dalton's cats, Holly and Weenie, into her life and routine. When they are nice, they are our cats. When they are naughty, they are Dalton's cats. But we're about to change that forever. Since the beginning, our relationship has been full of music, shared goals, trust, understanding, and affection. We look forward to sharing the next step with our family and friends at our wedding. Note by note, measure by measure, we can't wait to live the rest of our lives together in harmony.

If you plan on flying, we recommend flying into JFK Airport, as it's closest to the venue. If you plan on driving, please note that there is no dedicated parking lot at the venue. However, street parking is available, and doesn't tend to get filled up in that area. We recommend arriving via taxi/rideshare service, or by public transit. If you plan on using public transit, the venue is located just two blocks away from the Halsey St subway stop on the L train.

If you want the REAL Dalton &amp; Sarah experience, stay at the hotel where we got engaged! While we don't have a hotel block here, this is one of our favorite places in the city, and we make it our annual tradition to go back every Valentine's Day. Located at JFK Airport's Terminal 5, this '60s mid-century modern hotel is based on the famous TWA terminal that used to be there. It's got great restaurants, a huge sunken lounge in the lobby (where the Beatles hung out when they first came to America!), a cocktail bar inside of a real 1960s airplane, and a heated rooftop infinity pool. If you choose to stay here, you'll want to take a taxi/rideshare to the venue, as there are no direct public transit lines.

What is the Dress Code?

Garden formal attire is requested for our ceremony and reception. Suits, jackets with ties, cocktail dresses covering the knees, jumpsuits, or long gowns are all appropriate. Feel free to get creative with patterns, colors, and silhouettes. Here is a <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/sarahnhough/dress-code/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Pinterest Board</a> for inspiration, should you need it!

Is the event child-friendly?

We would love to welcome your children to our wedding! However, if you'll have an easier time without them, there is no pressure to make sure they're in attendance. Please indicate your family members on your RSVP.

Is there parking available near the venue?

While you will probably be able to find street parking near the venue, there is no designated parking lot. We recommend taking our beloved L train to the Halsey stop and walking from there (3 min). You can find more information about transportation on the Travel page.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

We ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony so that we and all the guests can enjoy the moment.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes, with wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic options available.

What time will the reception end?

The reception will end no later than 10:30 PM. If you would like to keep the party going, we will head over to Purgatory Bar (13 min walk) to dance the rest of the night away.

What's this about a song during cocktail hour?

We met at an open mic! To honor that special moment in our lives and to start our marriage on a perfect note, we are asking some of our musically talented friends and family to perform a meaningful song of their choosing during the cocktail hour. A piano and guitar will be available.
